Wow Day

July 19, 2011

We are so blessed to be surrounded by people who care and willing to make a difference. Mandela Day was a day filled with loads of fun and laughter for kids and adults alike. Thank you to all the individuals who spent their time with us: Left Field Advertising, SAPS Border Patrol and FPD Holdings. A note to Reach for A Dream who joined us as a partner and helped organise an afternoon of activities with the mobile MTN Science Unit, Rita Jacobs, Waterfront Drama School and Cape Portfolios. Thank you to Left Field Advertising, Woolworths, Joseph Samuals and Nomfundo Zonke for much needed donations. It was a day that will linger in our memories for a long time.

Our Top 4 Reward Winners

St Josephs continues to try and create a positive spirit within the home and a Reward System has been created to encourage responsible behaviour. The guidelines for the Reward System for the older children includes compliance with medication, being helpful and assisting the staff in the wards, assisting with basic chores and no detention for the month. The June winners have been announced and we are so proud of the Freesia girls as the Top 4 all came from the Freesia Ward. Well done and keep it up. All four girls will go on an outing as their reward.

Time Out for Fun

April 15, 2011

The St Josephs team spent a morning together building helicopters as a team building exercise. Well done to the winning group who built their helicopter in 34 minutes. It was a morning filled with plenty of fun and laughter and a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other outside the workplace.

Uncle Paul’s Christmas Party

December 2, 2010

The Sisanda Foundation took a group of 20 children from St. Joseph’s for a magical evening at Uncle Paul’s Christmas Party. From tractor rides and straw fights to blowing out the lights with Father Christmas and meeting the Christmas fairy, the evening was an experience that the little ones are sure to remember for a long time to come.
A big thank you to the Sisanda Foundation and to Rotary for organising the party, and a special thank you to all the wonderful volunteers for transporting and looking after the children.

Thank you ‘Rainbow Dream Trust’ and ‘Rotary of Constantia’

November 19, 2010

Some of our children had an opportunity to attend camp thanks to ‘Rainbow Dream Trust’ and ‘Rotary of Constantia’. It was really the best medicine for the children. Thank you for a thousand smiles!
